Dissertation Year Fellowship funded by the Marye Anne Fox Endowed Fellowship Fund Applicants should be nominated by their graduate programs, no self-nominations will be accepted. Graduate Programs may nominate a total of three (3) candidates across all three dissertation year fellowships.
Dissertation Year Fellowships are intended to encourage historical scholarship of the public career of Harry S. Truman or the Truman era. This fellowship is intended to free a doctoral student from teaching or other employment to facilitate completion of his or her dissertation.
Recipients of the Dissertation Year Fellowship must have departmental approval of the dissertation prospectus. Applicants who have not completed their predissertation requirements by the deadline may still apply for funding.
The Gamma Alpha Gamma and Raymond White Dissertation Year Fellowships are intended to help defray dissertation research expenses in the same academic year that students defend their dissertation. The award amount is equivalent to the minimum stipend for a.25 assistantship.

Dissertation Fellowship All nominations must be submitted by the department using our online system. Nominating department’s internal deadline for nominations will be earlier. It is to the applicant’s advantage to submit materials for this fellowship as early as possible.
The Graduate Dean’s Dissertation Fellowship aims to increase dissertation and thesis completion amongst doctoral and MFA students. This award is intended for students in their final year of graduate study who have a realistic expectation of degree completion during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Specifically, Dissertation-Year Fellowships are awarded to eligible graduate students whose doctoral work will be completed by the end of the academic year.
